Archer was on tokota sitting duty again, though thankfully it was only two instead of the usual groups of three or even four tokotas he had been taking out over the past few days. He had plans later in the week to go out on a trip with some of his tribe members, so he was looking forward to those, but for now he was focused on finishing up with the tokotas he was currently taking out and about for the day. Archer was eager to head out today, as he had heard that some seals had shown up at one of the local beaches, and wanted to head out early to catch a few before the seals got the idea and were scared off by the large canines hunting them. Archer finished up his breakfast, cleaned up the dishes, and walked out to the barn. He wondered which tokota to take with him, then decided on Tsulo, as he had been with the tokotas in this group earlier and there would be no need to reintroduce them. Tsulo was waiting for Archer at his stall door, tail wagging slightly as Archer approached him. "You all ready for another big day?" Archer asked, and Tsulo replied with a small yip. Archer quickly brushed and saddled the tokota before swinging himself up onto his back and heading out the door. Thankfully today he only had to pick up Albion and Enzo, and Tsulo was familiar with the routes to reach both of their houses, so the two of them made good time picking up the tokotas from their respected owners. A good portion of Archer's morning was spent getting the tokotas ready to go, but once they were ready, Archer urged the group into a run, moving quickly over the rolling hills and flood plain towards the beach. He reined Tsulo in as the group approached the shore, and the tokotas slowed to a stop in the marsh grasses. Archer slid off of Tsulo slowly, admiring the view around them. Tall mountains stretched into the sky and seemed to reach down straight to the water's edge on the far side of the water. Archer scanned the waves, looking for seals, and was rewarded with a few grey-brown heads bobbing in the water. Enzo had already spotted them and was padding towards the water with Albion on his tail. Tsulo wanted to follow after them but Archer held him back, quickly taking off his saddle, saddle blanket, and halter before allowing the tokota to follow the other two. Enzo was already wading through the water towards the seals, but Albion was hanging back at the water's edge, uncertain about getting his paws wet and fur dirty. Tsulo flew past him with a splatter of mud and a large splash as he entered the water, leaving Albion with no choice but to follow him to get the mud out of his fur. Enzo swam strongly towards the seals and disappeared under the water as he swam to chase after one. When Tsulo and Albion approached the same spot, they too disappeared underneath the water. Archer watched the waves worridly, looking for the tokota's heads, but did not see anything for a few minutes. Enzo suddenly surfaced with a splash of red water, swimming steadily towards shore while dragging a long grey carcass of a seal with him. Tsulo and Albion were quick to follow, with each tokota dragging a seal carcass of their own back to shore. Archer hung back in the grasses as the tokotas made it back to shore, each one shaking themselves to try and get rid of the water in their fur before bringing their catches to Archer. (619)
